|Jim has spent over 30 years in the reinsurance/insurance industry. His career has spanned several disciplines including actuarial, underwriting, marketing, finance and technology.
Jim was a key advocate for the development of the Swiss Re Academy and talent management group, sponsoring and mentoring graduate students, coaching and developing directors and its leadership development programs and Talent Management.
Jim managed technology teams responsible for implementation of key global business systems and executive dashboards. He was instrumental in the development of pricing, catastrophe and evaluation modeling systems.
After 10 years in system development in Underwriting and Finance, Jim became CIO of Private Equity practice at Swiss Re. In this role Jim led global deal teams during 15 strategic acquisitions and fully integrated several acquired infrastructures into a global corporate model. He also headed all IT operational services and was Transformation CIO for all acquired companies. His efforts saved up to 30 percent of overall IT costs during these acquisitions.
Jim has led several innovative projects, introducing new technologies into existing business models. These included executive dashboards, electronic document management and mobile technologies (Blackberry/Remote Computing). For these efforts Jim was featured in a cover story by \"Insurance and Technology\" magazine and as a panelist on the cable TV show \"Financial News/Technology\". Another article dubbed Jim an “Insurance Visionary.”
As Managing Director Jim was asked to lead the IT group as Americas Region Head – Information Technology and has led various restructuring teams to manage resource planning and technology strategies. He was instrumental in creating a balance of existing and outsourced resources to produce significant long-term savings and business flexibility.
Jim holds a MBA in Insurance/Finance from St. John\'s University (College of Insurance) in New York City and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Computer Science) from St. Peter\'s College in Jersey City, NJ.
Jim can be best summarized as an excellent leader, mentor and manager who combines human skills with a strong business acumen for utilizing Information Technology as a cost-effective tool for strategic alignment and competitive edge.
